From her time at WVUM, the on-campus radio station, to working at Thrillcall in Los Angeles, Amber Robertson has always worked to raise the bar.
Robertson graduated from the University of Miami in 2012 with a double major in media management and political science. She counts Dr. Mitch Shapiro, a professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Management, and Dr. Paul Driscoll, vice dean for the School of Communication, among her favorite professors at the school.
During her time as a Hurricane, Robertson was a part of WVUM-FM. She helped cement the station in South Florida by creating partnerships with venues and music festivals in Miami and around the United States.
“My favorite UM memory was winning the MTVU Woodie Award for Best College Radio Station while at WVUM,” says Robertson.
After graduating, Robertson worked at the Knight Foundation in Downtown Miami. She then moved to New York City to begin her career in radio and sales for the United States Radio Network. After a couple of years, she moved to Los Angeles and began working as the marketing manager for Thrillcall, a concert-listing app. As marketing manager, Robertson managed partnerships and worked on marketing initiatives and business development.
Now, Robertson is working at CBS Interactive, CBS's online premium content network as part of the company's audience acquisition team.
Robertson describes the School of Communication as "a great place to be surrounded by young and ambitious students."
“The program was a perfect blend of academics and extracurricular like WVUM,” says Robertson.
